Regardless of where or how you experience the error, the solutions are the same.
How to fix “Authentication Is Required” on Android
Sign out your Google account from your Android, then sign in again
There might be a problem that prevents your Android from connecting to your Google account properly, which causes the error. Try signing out of Android then sign in again with the same account.
To do this, open Settings > Google. Tap the downward arrow at the right side of your email address. Select Manage accounts on this device.
Here, select Google. Select which Google account experiencing the “Authentication is required” issue and is also the account that will be signed out.
Tap More. Select Remove account.
You’ll be signed out of your Android. Restart your phone. Then try to sign in again. See if there’s still an error when installing an app from Play Store.
Uninstall Google Play Store app updates
If the Play Store received an update previously that causes the “Authentication is required” problem, you may want to uninstall the update. You can do this on the Settings > Apps > Google Play Store.
Select Uninstall updates.
Select OK to confirm.
Try deleting Play Store data and cache
Play Store just like other apps uses cache, and if there’s something wrong with the cache, you might experience an error using the app. If the “Authentication is required” error is due to the cache, clearing it might solve the problem.
Open the Settings > Apps. Search for Google Play Store, then tap Clear data.
Manually sync your Google account
If your Android doesn’t sync automatically or that it has a syncing problem, you might want to sync manually which also might solve the “Authentication is required” issue.
Go to the Settings > Google > downward arrow > Manage accounts on this device > Google > select which email > Sync now. Syncing then will be started.
Fortunately, the “Authentication is required” issue is practical to solve. Hopefully, the above suggestions really fix it and you can continue downloading and installing the app on the Play Store.
