Spotify doesn’t provide a complicated way to remove your account. But you would have to unsubscribe or stop the Spotify premium membership to be able to delete your account permanently.
If you want to keep using Spotify without the premium subscription, you can actually go back using the free version and keep your music/podcast. Deleting your Spotify account may be too much just so you can stop the premium.
But, if you seriously want to get rid of your Spotify account, your music, your podcast, and your data permanently, deleting the account permanently is a good idea.
You can do this only on the Spotify website. You can’t delete your Spotify account on its mobile app (Android or iPhone).
What happens after deleting your Spotify account
Before actually doing it, you have to know what happens afterward. It’s always best to know since you can never go back to use your deleted Spotify account.
- You can create a new Spotify account with the same email address
- You won’t be able to use the same username again
- You lose your follower, following, playlist, song, podcast, and other data.
How to delete your Spotify account
Simply open your browser, open the Spotify website, sign in to your Spotify account, and then visit this Spotify page.
It’s the Contact Spotify page when you concern about something related to your account and other information.
Select Account. Then select I want to close my account.
Here, simply select Contact to close.
Spotify will then ask you to confirm your decision with several steps. Simply click Continue until it finishes.
Spotify will also ask you whether you have signed in to the right Spotify account. In case you accidentally delete the wrong Spotify account. Click Continue.
Click Continue again if there’s a warning about your losing music/podcast and other data.
Click Continue again to get the email sent to the email that you use for the same Spotify account.
Now, simply check your email inbox. Open an email from Spotify. Then select Close My Account as soon as possible to finally delete your Spotify account permanently.
Spotify provides a simple way to close your account, so you can get rid of Spotify completely and lose all of its data. Keep in mind that you can never go back or recover once you’ve deleted your Spotify account.
