There is a moment when you have to add a text box into your spreadsheet to add some long text or a script. Here’s how to insert a text box in Google Sheets easily.
A text box in Google Sheets is usually used to add text in a movable box that you drag around your spreadsheet with your mouse. It’s often a better choice when you want to create a form in the sheet that others can fill.
Fortunately, adding a text box is as easy as making a trendline in Google Sheets, only takes a few clicks as well as customizing it, like changing the font size, the font style, and more — same exact method to add a text box in Google Docs.
How to insert a text box in Google Sheets
To do this, simply open Google Sheets, open your spreadsheet you want to insert a text box in, and click Insert. Select Drawing.
The drawing section is where you can draw any shape you want in Google Sheets, including a rectangle. The rectangle can then be inserted with any text you want, which becomes a text box.
Here, simply click the rectangle icon with the T letter in it, and start drawing a text box.
You can customize the size and shape here.
Click on it to start typing. Click Save and Close to save the text box and put it into your spreadsheet.
This is what the text box would look like. You can drag it anywhere to move the position of the text box.
That’s it. You’ve made a text box in your Google Sheets spreadsheet.
How to assign a script using the text box
You can also use the text box to assign a script in Google Sheets, and the text box makes it easier to do that. Assuming you’ve put the script, click the vertical three dots button and select Assign script.
Here, put the script you want to assign, and click OK to save.
How to customize the text box in Google Sheets
You can customize the already made text box if the style doesn’t look good to you. Click the text box, and click the vertical three dots button. Click Edit to customize it.
Here, you can do anything as you’d like to change the style of the text box.
A text box can be a useful tool in a spreadsheet, and Google Sheets makes it easy to insert a new one. Better yet, you can assign a script using the text box.
