Screen recording might sound complicated at first for some people, but it can be done easier than you think, especially if you use Windows 11/10. If you want to make a video out of your activity on Windows 11/10, you can record your screen in some easy methods.
There are cases when you have to record your Windows screen to share with others, and taking screenshots isn’t enough. If you use Windows 11 or Windows 10, you can actually record a screen to share cool events in games using the Xbox game bar.
If you want to record your screen without the Xbox game bar, you can also do that, especially if you record your screen for working purposes. The same thing can apply if you’re a YouTuber or a Twitch streamer.
How to record your screen on Windows 11 or Windows 10
Windows 10 and Windows 11 share similar functions and both can record your screen the same way. You can use the Xbox game bar or a third-party app like OBS to record your screen, which will be explained below.
Record your screen using the Xbox game bar
Xbox game bar is mainly developed to capture or record in full-screen games, although you can sometimes use it to record for non-gaming purposes, let’s say, Chrome browser or Microsoft Edge.
When you open the Xbox game bar app, you might not be able to record your screen on some apps, which is normal. But sometimes, some apps are able to be recorded using the Xbox game bar.
To record your screen on Windows 11 or Windows 10 using the Xbox game bar, simply open the app by searching the Xbox game bar on the Start menu. Your screen will dim and your Xbox game bar will show.
Click Capture to open the screen recording widget. Select the record button to start recording your PC screen.
If you see a message saying “Gaming features aren’t available for the Windows desktop or File Explorer”, ensure you’re recording the right app. Or, it might be caused by other issues, too, like the disabled DirectX 12 Ultimate.
You should be seeing the rectangle stop recording button and the recording duration that’s located at the upper-right corner of your screen. You can do some activities you want to be recorded, and select the stop button once you’re done.
Once you’re done recording, you can see the recording by clicking Show all captures. You can directly play the recorded screen, too.
You can do more things with the Xbox game bar app, like recording your screen with audio. If you don’t want to use the Xbox game bar, you can still record your screen without it by using a third-party app.
Using OBS to record your screen
OBS is one of the most popular screen recording apps, and you can use it for free. It’s simple and easy to use for a beginner, too. You can download the app and install it on Windows 11 or Windows 10 easily.
Once you have installed the app, open it and select Start Recording to start recording.
Once you’re done recording, select Stop Recording. You can also pause by clicking the pause icon.
Recording your screen on Windows 11 or Windows 10 might sound complex, but it definitely can be done conveniently, whether you want to record cool scenes on your favorite games or just to record for work purposes.
