Windows 10 still brings the Recycle Bin feature as your PC’s trash can for your files. But, sometimes you just don’t need it especially if you have too many desktop icons. Here’s how to remove Recycle Bin from desktop on Windows 10, Windows 7, and Windows Vista.
While it’s not recommended to hide the Recycle Bin icon, Windows 10 provides a way for you to do that. However, the method isn’t as easy as on Windows Vista, which you can do by deleting the Recycle Bin icon. It’s also a little different than on Windows 7.
Removing the Recycle Bin doesn’t change its function. You can still remove files to the Recycle Bin and restore them from it. You can access it easily on File Explorer.
How to Remove Recycle Bin from Desktop
To delete the Recycle Bin icon from the desktop, simply right-click the desktop then click Personalize.
Now, you will see the Settings app showing you the Personalization section. Click Themes, then choose the Desktop icon settings button which is located at the Related Settings section.
Simply uncheck the Recycle Bin button to hide the Recycle Bin icon from the desktop. Choose OK to save the settings. In the same place, you can also change the Recycle Bin icon.
Now, you will see that there’s no Recycle Bin icon on the desktop anymore. To show the Recycle Bin icon again, simply do the same method but check the Recycle Bin icon at the Desktop Icon Settings dialog box.
