Xbox has the party chat feature that allows you to interact with other Xbox gamers in real-time while playing games. But some experience the Xbox party chat doesn’t work. Here’s how to fix it.
Xbox party chat uses your Xbox gamertag to work, and you can easily invite others to join the party chat to maximize the multiplayer experience. But when party chat doesn’t work, it’s really infuriating.
There are different kinds of issues with the Xbox party chat feature. Some experience the mic doesn’t work. Some experience the feature itself doesn’t work as if you can’t connect to the Xbox Live server.
Fix Xbox party chat not working on the mic
Some have problems hearing other Xbox gamers due to the mic. Especially if you use the Xbox One Chat Headset.
This specific issue has some ways to get fixed. Try unplugging and plugging the headset cable back to the Xbox controller.
Does the mic still have the issue? Make sure your privacy settings are fine. Xbox Live has a privacy option that lets you get heard by others or not. To check it, simply press the Xbox button.
Go to the System. Select Settings. Select Account. On Privacy & online safety, select Xbox Live privacy. Go to View details & customize.
On Communication & multiplayer, you can change all privacy options in there. For instance, the Others can communicate with voice, text, or invites.
If your privacy settings are alright, the other Xbox users you want to chat with might have their privacy settings disabled to receive messages.
Do you still get the mic problem in a party chat? You might have muted the chat unintentionally. To unmute, or even unblock, you can press the Xbox button. Go to the Multiplayer, and select Party.
Choose which Xbox user to unmute, then choose the Unmute button.
Are you still not able to hear others? Make sure your Xbox One controllers are up-to-date. Out-dated drivers might make the audio sounds choppy.
You may have a network problem
If you can’t still hear others in the party chat, you might have a network problem that prevents you from hearing others properly. Some people experience this on PC.
If Xbox Live is down, you may not be able to play multiplayer games at all. That means something must be wrong on your own console.
Try a hard restart of your Xbox console
Some users experience the party chat problem is solved by hard-restarting. To do this, press the power button on the console for at least 10 seconds, then release once the console is turned off.
Unplug the power cable from the source. Then wait for at least 10 seconds. Plug it back again and finally, power on the Xbox console.
Xbox party chat that can’t be used is annoying. There’s just not as much joy as playing multiplayer games while interacting with others in real-time. The good thing is that there are ways to solve it.
